Disappointed

WHAT THE??
I'm MIA for less than a week, and suddenly google friend connect is disappearing?? I'm extremely upset to hear about this. I don't mind change. Really, I don't. But when it happens with my social media outlets, I get rather annoyed.
I guess the only thing for me to do, is switch to Blog Lovin'.

In the meantime, I must remember to...

Catch ya on the flip side!
Hopefully...

Home Goods Find

Hi, Friends!! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I boozed it up two nights in a row (unheard of at my old age), and have sworn off alcohol the rest of the week. I woke up today still feeling dehydrated. I seriously just cannot hang like I used to. It's sad...

Yesterday, I managed to muster up enough energy to swing by the usual... Target, World Market, Home Goods... And I'm sure glad I did!

I know you're all familiar with this guy
Yes, you've seen it everywhere! Furbish had them for $65 (inserts not included), Society Social has them for $75 (inserts included), Etsy has them for $40 (inserts not included), and low & behold, Homegoods had them for a mere $25 (INSERTS INCLUDED). You heard right. TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS! Helloooo, the same dern piller! You best believe these babies came home with me!

Go hit up your local Homegoods very quickly if you want to get your paws on some leafy greens. I'm sure they won't be there long!

Happy Monday!

Eat This

Wow, once again, I've failed at blogging this week. My B. I guess I could blame it on things being so hectic in my life, but that would be a lie. So I got nuthin...

Anyway, TGIF, Friends!!
The other night, I found a recipe that I just had to try, and lemme tell ya- FREAKING AMAZING!
It's always a no brainer that your Southern Living recipes are gonna be good, but when you happen to stumble across a recipe from Pinterest or a random website, ya never know what you're gonna get. Well this got two thumbs up from me, Brad & the ladies from my work (they got the left-overs). Try it!

**Chipotle Chicken Kabobs with Avocado Cream Sauce**

Ingredients
For the chicken:
Juice of 2 limes
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
1tsp salt
1tsp chili powder
1tsp paprika
1/2tsp cumin
1/2tsp cayenne pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1tbsp brown sugar
1 chipotle in adobo, minced (you can seed it- I did not (I like spice))
2lbs chicken breast, cut into pieces for skewers
Minced fresh cilantro, for serving

For the avocado cream sauce:
1 avocado, split & pitted
1/2 cup low-fat greek yogurt
1 clove garlic, minced
juice of 1 lime
salt & pepper, to taste
minced fresh cilantro, for serving
1/2tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2tsp chili powder
1/2tsp cayenne pepper
(you may leave out last 3 ingredients if you don't like spice)

Directions
1. Combine first 10 ingredients in bowl. Add chicken pieces. Mix to coat. Cover, refrigerate, and let marinade 30-60 minutes.
2. Heat grill to medium-high & oil the grates.
3. Meanwhile, made your avocado cream sauce. Combine all ingredients into food processor or blender. Combine until smooth. Sprinkle with cilantro, if desired.
4. When the chicken is done marinating, thread the pieces onto skewers. (If using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them first to prevent burning.) Place kabobs on grill & let cook, turning once or twice until all sides are brown & the internal temp reaches 160 degrees F (5-10min). Remove from grill, & sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

Serve with cilantro lime rice

ENJOY!

Make An Entrance: Mudrooms

In case you don't know, my guilty pleasure is reality tv. And yes, Keeping Up With The Kardashians is no exception. I love the show, and I love Lord Disick. (Do Not Judge!) If you're a fan like me, then you probably watched the season premiere Sunday night. A lot of the show consisted of Scott using the term, "back door." And of course, while thinking up this post, all I can think about is that term in a derogatory sense. This thought all started because I planned on telling you all that Brad & I are back door kind of people (because we never use our front door). So now that you all know how twisted my mind can be, I'll get on with the post.

I love a good mudroom. Who doesn't? These rooms have my wheels turning. I'm feeling quite inspired right now...

My house is on it's knees begging me for a mudroom. Our back door goes right into the kitchen and bears the brunt of the dirt, shoes, dog leashes, keys, etc.

I think finishing off this corner would be a fairly easy thing to do... Then again, what do I know about construction? My only worry is that it will make my house look too boxy.

So here's my vision: box off the house, move the stairs a full stair length to the left, move the current door to the other side of the new wall, put in a glass paneled door (like the ones above) where the door is now, and add a window to the wall where the stairs currently are. ORRRR... Do all of the above, but make it bigger so that the mudroom would come out further than the rest of the house on the back.

So, what do you think? Could a mudroom work here, or is my vision all wrong?? Feedback is GREATLY appreciated!!

Blog Hiatus

So, I accidentally, and then purposely, took a little hiatus from my blog. And I kind of enjoyed it. Sorry. While i've only been at this blog for a little over a year, sometimes it can feel more like work instead of fun... And that, I do not want. I've had a lot going on lately. My hiatus started because I was too busy to sit down to write a post. After a few days of being "too busy", I'd realized I hadn't opened the laptop at home in days, and I loved it. So I made the decision to take the week off.

I'm back, and my battery is recharged.

If you follow me on Instagram, the rest of this post may bore you because I'm about to overload you with my Instagram pics from the past week. A LOT of Instagram pics. Brace yourself for the longest post of your life.

If you'll remember, Brad & I went to Virginia last weekend to be with his mother. It was the one year anniversary of his dad's death, and there was no place else we would rather be than his childhood home. Right before his dad passed, he bought this 60 something Thunderbird for one last hoorah. Brad decided to take it for a joy ride in honor of his father. He was in classic car heaven.

We hung out that Saturday night with Brad's good friends at their cabin where Brad spent, what I'm sure were, many drunken nights in high school. We kept the details of their high school parties out of our conversations for my own good. The cabin was in the middle of nowhere. So beautiful and so peaceful...

Last week, I attended a hospital function at the same gorgeous house I've been frequenting... And I ain't complainin'.

Saturday evening, Brad & I took the babies on stroll around the hood

This front door has always been a favorite of mine. The color is so happy!

The home's garden is unbelievable. This is just a snippet of her gorgeous plants.

After our walk, Brad's inner lumberjack came out in full force. He cut down limbs galore as I dictated which ones needed to go.

Sunday, Brad had a baseball game, and being the good girlfriend I am, I went to cheer him on. This idiot forgot her sunblock. The sweet boyfriend put our aloe plant to use for the first time.

I've been craving smores for months now, so last night we started a bonfire fire in our chiminea & stuffed our faces.

Okay, got all that out of the way. I had a lot of catching up to do. Next time I decide I need a break, I'll let you all know in advance so you don't worry about me. :)

Happy Monday!!
