Chintz

I'm been crushing on Schumacher's Pyne Hollyhock fabric for some time now. This charcoal seems to be a favorite of many, and I can see why.

I'm loving this indigo (duh)! It's the perfect addition to my master bedroom.

I'd love to recover my headboard in this fabulous chintz! My headboard was my grandparents from 50 years ago. It was recovered about 15 years ago, but it's due for a change.

What do you think? Wouldn't this chintz look beyond amazing in my master?

Scenes From The Weekend

Happy Monday!
We had nothing planned this weekend, but ended up staying pretty busy. Friday night, we went to Mellow Mushroom with some friends, followed by pool & darts at a little bar. I love an easy, casual night like that. Saturday was, of course, football Saturday. We went to a friends house to watch the games, and let's just say I left broken hearted. Sunday was lazy day / football day / yard work day. Nothing too exciting to show or tell there...

So I did paint one coat of the Benjamin Moore Sherwood Green paint on one wall in my guest room. In some light, I love it. In other light, I only like it. I think with a second coat, I'll love it. With deep blue accents, I think the colors will all go well together, so I'm just gonna go for it!

My favorite shirt again! Seriously. So comfy.

Nothing better than snuggles with the babes in the morning! Oh, and that blue & white blanket is a new favorite from Target. $20. So soft, and so worth it.

I think one can never have too many cozy blankets. Seriously, $20.
This week I'll be working more on the guest room. But more excitingly, It's almost October. This means it's time to decorate for Halloweeeeeeeeen!! I hope to go all out this year!

See you peeps tomorrow.

Friday Five

1. This MINKPINK coat is everything.
And with the $149 price tag, it needs to be mine...

2. The Poplin & Queen ladies posted this paint chart on their blog
and this is exactly what I envisioned for my guest room. Headed to Benjamin Moore today!

3. I made this kale salad for my lunches this week.
It was low calorie & delicious! It doesn't look like much,
but it had every flavor I needed & it filled me up.

4. These lounge pants seem to be the bees knees.
I'll be headed to Target today to see what the fuss is all about.

5. I recently bought the Amanda Uprichard Maria dress, and I've worn it 3 times. Overkill? Maybe, but I love it, and it's the most comfortable dress EVER!

I couldn't find my color, but I found 3 other colors here, here, and here.

Dutch Oven Chicken & Dumplings

When Brad texted me yesterday to tell me he was wanting chicken & dumplings for dinner, my first thought was, "Oh, that takes forever!" My second was, "Damn. That's not going to help me lose weight." But since it was 60 degrees out & the first day of Fall, chicken & dumplings sounded amazing. I instantly started thinking of the fastest way possible that I could make this. I didn't time myself, but I'm pretty sure this took just 30 minutes.

Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
4 celery stalks, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
3c chicken broth
2c water
1/4c milk
1 tsp corn starch
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 c frozen peas
1 Rotisserie chicken, pulled
1 can of 8 biscuits, torn into small chunks

Directions
1. Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions & celery, and sauté until onions are translucent, about 4 minutes. Add garlic, and sauté for 1 more minute.
2. Add broth & water. Bring to boil. In separate bowl, mix together milk & corn starch, then add to the dutch oven. (Note: I like a thicker chicken & dumplings. If you like it more like soup, skip the milk & corn starch.) Add bay leaves, salt, pepper, peas, chicken, and chunks of biscuit. Let cook for about 15 minutes until biscuits are cooked through, stirring occasionally.
3. Remove from heat. Let stand 10 minutes, discarding the bay leaves.

Voila! Comfort food at it's finest. :)

Scenes From The Weekend

Confession: I just woke up, thus the late blog post. I'm not lazy, I'm just sick. I woke myself up from my loud snoring. Lovely, huh?

Anyways, I had a wonderful, productive weekend. We celebrated my bestie's birthday. It's become a tradition that the 4 of us do dinner for each of our birthdays. I love traditions, and I hope this one lasts forever!

They had the most amazing peach cobbler on their
dessert menu that I could not pass up!

Most weekends that I'm in town, at least one night looks like some version of this. This past weekend, I was feeling homemade chicken pad thai, red box, & anything with the word "pumpkin" in it. If you haven't seen Draft Day, watch it. It's so good. Brad & I kept saying, "what a great movie" throughout the entire thing!

I've got the Christmas itch.

I love how cuddly Ella is. I wish Brady were the same way, but he's the complete opposite.

When Brad & I bought this house, the built-ins were mirrored. We hated the mirrors. We'd be sitting on the sofa, basically staring at ourselves when we were watching tv. So I bought this God awful sticky wallpaper to put in there, and after about a month, I was over that too. Two years later, it was still there. Yesterday, I kept thinking, "black living room walls?" Instantly, I knew that wallpaper would have to come down if I took the bold step to paint the living room black. So I went to work.

I now have 7 years of bad luck. Or is it 14 because I broke 2 mirrors? (P.S. Whatever you're imagining the mess from this to be, it was 10 times worse. I have cuts all over my entire body.)

Ahhh... No mirror!

After one coat of white paint.

White!

I'm happy with the white. Brad was impressed as well. Mind you, I did this alone because Bradley got called into work.

I bought this Sundry shirt this weekend, and I haven't taken it off. There was only a size 3 available (medium), so I bought it. But I could've used the 2 instead. It's so comfy!

There are currently a bunch of guys in my backyard cutting down some of my forest. I'm so excited about this. I'm ready for a backyard makeover!! I'll share that another day. :)

Friday Five

1. This is so me. I'm that white girl, and I don't even care.

2. Speaking of pumpkin... Umm, yum!
I'm going to need to make this pumpkin bread pudding.

3. The Burberry Monogrammed Cape.
I have to have it. It's too amazing.

I bought these boots Wednesday, and I'm obsessed. I can't wait to wear them!
5. I'm hoping to Fall-ify my window boxes this weekend now that the scorching hot weather is gone... I think / hope it's gone, anyway!

Insta Faves

Often times, when I see an Instagram picture that's inspiring to me or just plain pretty, I snap shot it so I can go back to it later. Instagram is my favorite place to go to get my creative juices flowing. A lot of peeps prefer Pinterest, but I just think Pinterest is filled with too much ugly. And frankly, the Instagram people I follow are pretty awesome and have so much talent oozing from them, that I'd choose Insta any day over Pinterest for inspiration!

Here are a few snap shots I've taken lately of some pretty fabulous pictures!

This backyard dinner party. Dreamy!

Future boutique? Beyond gorgeous. I picture beautiful linens living in here one day.

I grew up with this guy. He painted this woman. Pretty sure it's me.
I just love a nude painting...

This outdoor space is so cozy to me. I need to recreate this somehow.

Seriously. Vintage portraits. Green velvet sofa. Louis trunk. Antelope rug. Perfect. Even better with the stuffed animals!

I love this paint color! Anyone have a guess as to what it is??

I've been telling myself I'm growing my hair back out, but her new cut has me rethinking that idea...

Hope you enjoyed my first post of "Insta Faves". If not, sorry. There will be more of them. :)

Vintage Finds Get A Home

Remember when I found these goodies in Columbia
Well, I thought I'd share with you where their new home is.

The picture and turtle made it to my bedside table.

The pineapple tray is residing on my bar cart in the dining room.

As for the pineapple lamps, I purchased shades, and they turned out to be the wrong size. So for now, they're homeless. I'll share once I find the perfect shades for them.
