Christmas Came A Little Early For Me

I sent Brad's mom a picture of Williams-Sonoma's 6-piece gold bakeware set because it was on sale, and I just wanted to let her know I wouldn't mind receiving that for Christmas. A few days ago, a package arrive. Addressed to me. Unwrapped. So I did what any normal woman would do, I opened it...

I was half ecstatic, half "oh shit" because I didn't want to ruin her surprise. I told Brad to wrap it and stick it under the tree. Instead, he texted her to see if he needed to do any of the above, and she said no because I already knew it was coming. (I didn't.) So woohoo for an early Christmas prezzie!!

I've been wanting this set for a looong time, and I cannot wait to use it!
Merry early Christmas to meeee!

Scenes From The Weekend

Christmas is just 10 days away.
This is so crazy to me!!! I so badly wish I could slow down the holiday season and take in every second. It's my favorite time of the year, and it's just passing me by. I'd love to just take off 2 weeks around Christmas like we got in school growing up.

Anyway, I attended my 1 and only Christmas party this past Friday night. Weird that it's my one and only considering most years I attend a few... (Maybe nobody was quite ready for the holiday season this year??) This Christmas party was a little different than most. A friend of mine hosted a wine tasting. A Sommelier came, brought 9 bottles of wine that we all decided on, and we sipped and ate. She actually taught us all a lot. I drink red wine on the regular, but there was so much I didn't know.
Like...

1. Never use a stemless wine glass.
When you hold the wine glass by anything other than the stem, you alter the temperature of the wine. Bad thing.
2. Red wine should be placed in a dark room, never in the kitchen.
3. When serving red wine, place it in the refrigerator 20 minutes prior to serving
(unless you're fancy and have a wine cellar at the appropriate temperature.)
4. Red wine needs to be swirled A LOT!

Did you know all of this??

My contribution to the party was this cheeseboard. I must say, it was pretty fabulous. I bought the cheeses, meats, fruits, jams, etc. that paired perfectly with each of the wines.

Every time I'm out and about, I check out the wrapping paper situation. If I see something I love, I buy it. This is my collection so far this year, and I decided on the middle 3 papers for this years' prezzies.

ANNDD my most favorite thing this time of year... Christmas trees lit, Christmas movie on the tube and red red wine, Babyyy!

Have a fabulous Monday. I'll be doing more Christmas shopping!

Just A Little Sprinkle

A friend of mine is expecting her second boy next month,
and so I offered to throw her a little sprinkle. I opted for a brunch because the food is simple and it wouldn't consume anyone's entire afternoon.

I was pleased with the way everything turned out. I'd say it was a success!

Christmas Mantels, Part Deux

The trend in Wilmington is obviously to have 3 fireplaces in your house...
Another client asked me to come by and give her mantels some love for Christmas,
so that's what I did!

Staffordshire dogs with bows & boxwoods should be in every Southern Holiday home,
DUH!

Scenes From The Weekend

Good morning!
I had quite the busy weekend...

I threw a baby shower brunch for a friend expecting a little boy

I went to dinner with Brad & a bunch of friends

I did some vintage shopping and scored Shiny Brite & Christopher Radko ornaments
(I now deem myself a collector of the two)

Brad & I finally got our Christmas tree, and I stuffed as many lights in there that I possibly could. I also added some colored lights this year, and I'm lovin it! Here's a tip for everyone when lighting up your tree: Start wrapping the lights from the trunk and work your way out. You can even stuff a handful of lights at the trunk rather than wrapping. A well lit tree probably takes 3X the amount of lights you're thinking it takes.

Instafaves

Is this scene not the most picture perfect scene you've ever seen??
This girl, an acquaintance of mine, lives in Alaska and is a deer farmer. I'd like to switch lives with her for a few months.

Tartan galore!
This screams Christmas to me, and I love it!

DREAM CAR!

I mean...
Julianne Hough looks freaking gorgeous here! I've always wanted to try the slicked back hair look for a fancy pants night out...

Someone I know needs to throw a party like this and invite me.
Just fabulous!

So many pretty things to see here...

And this photo may be a little controversial, but I'm a fan.
I think nude pregnant women are so empowering, especially when you look as hot as Kourtney.

Client 'More Is More'

"You can never be too tacky or too over the top at Christmas time!" - Client 'More Is More'

When your client says something like this, you best believe you better zhush the shiz out of her house for Christmas. So, that's what I did. I zhushed. And zhushed some more. I finished each mantel, then decided I needed more. So I added, and then added a little bit more.

I didn't get a picture of the tree because I finished when it was dark out, but I'll sneak back over and try to snap a quick pic. The tree topper is seriously outrageous.

For now, here are 3 mantels, a little shot of a dining room, and a decked out pot rack.
