Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, Friends!

How was my weekend? Well, besides attending the 13th Annual Founders' Gala, getting a much needed mani/pedi, cleaning the entire house, doing 5 loads of laundry, working, and catching up on my Redbox movie rentals, I accomplished absolutely nothing.

Today is my day of rest. I'm tired. I shall treat today like a Sunday afternoon. All 5 of my readers should be grateful that I mustered up enough energy to write this post.

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite snapshots from the Gala.

Later, Gators!

Dining Room Update

Wainscoting is complete!

And see that little piece of pretty paper in the last picture? That would be a wallpaper sample. A gorgeous one, at that. It arrived today and 3 rolls were purchased just a couple hours later. The UPS man is very quickly becoming my new BFF.

Ain't she a beaut? Thank you very much Anthropologie!

Chivalry Is Dead?

I'm an avid watcher of the Today Show with Hoda & Kathie Lee Meredith Vieira (mostly because I love how they drink everyday at 10am). So this morning, as usual, I had my coffee in hand, lap top in lap and the Today Show on the tube. Well, I really could've done without one of today's guests. They had a woman on the show who is teaching her 4-yr-old son how NOT to be a gentleman. She teaches him that women do not have to go first in certain situations, nor do men always have to open the door for women... Her argument is that if a man gets to the door first, they should have the door opened for them, or if a woman is in the back of an elevator with all men in the front, the men should just get off the elevator and not move to the side to let the woman off first. This woman is a fool, and I couldn't disagree with her more!

All moms should teach their little boys to be gentlemen. And yes, men should also open doors for men, not just women. But is having a man treat you like a lady, opening doors for you and allowing you to go first degrading as a woman?? Hell no! Call me crazy, but I'm hopeful in that chivalry is not dead!

I must be completely annoying for a second and brag about my man. Since Brad and I have been together, I have not had to open one car door, or any door for that matter. And I feel so proud when I have girlfriends with me and he opens the doors for them, too. It's so refreshing to know there are still such gentlemen in the world today!

Sorry for the lame post, but that woman on the Today Show bugged the sh*t out of me, and I just had to write about it.

I'll leave you today with some gentlemanly pictures

P.S. I'm completely slacking on finishing this wainscoting. I caulked over the weekend, but have yet to paint. I'll share once completed. Oh, and I have this AMAZING wallpaper sample on its way for above the wainscoting.

Code Blue

I've been majorly obsessing over all things blue & white for the home. Every time I see a gorge blue & white patterned object, I snatch it up. It's become borderline hoarding. Brad is constantly reminding me that our house cannot be one big blue blob, so I'm dedicating our master to these hues. I'm going to try my damndest to keep these colors in the bedroom, but if some blue & white pieces end up elsewhere in the house, so be it.

I just adore the look of blues and whites with a touch of natural wood

Here is the rug that arrived after only 5 days. I'm in LOVE (with Brady & the rug)!

My awesome camera iPhone doesn't allow the blue to shine in all it's glory, but I can assure you, it's a beaut!

Dining Room Update:
The wainscoting is up! We still need to fill in the nail holes & paint, but so far, so good!

Weekend Around the House

This past weekend was spent relaxing with Brad, spending time with my mom, hanging out with friends, shopping, and decorating the house!

We went to the local vintage stores and managed to scoop up these ginger jars. They're nesting together  on our dining table & cost a grand total of $30.

I found the perfect home for my bar cart. Brad's slightly disappointed because he was hoping for a man chair, but the bar cart was meant for this space.

It's not decorated quite the way I want, but it'll do for now.

Sunday was a lounge around the house kinda day...

That headboard was my grandparents first ever headboard that they purchased when they got married 51 years ago. It's held up nicely, but I'd like to get it recovered with some fun fabric eventually. The duvet & euro shams are from West Elm, and the standard shams were scooped up from World Market over the weekend for a measly $10 (talk about a steal).

Next weekend, I think we're going to tackle a wainscoting project in the dining room. And by "we", I mean Brad.

New Career Path

As I previously mentioned, I just got a new job. I'm so unbelievably excited to say that I'm the social media / pr manager for Monkees of Wilmington.

If you're unfamiliar with Monkees, it an upscale, contemporary ladies boutique. It originated here in Wilmington by the amazing Deedee Shaw, and since has grown to 23 franchised stores across the southeast and beyond. I've worked for and shopped at many small boutiques, and Monkees is completely different than any other. I'm so honored to say I've been working there since August 2012 and now am in charge of all Social Media aspects of the store.

The beautiful Lindsey Cheek of FifiCheek and Poplin & Queen has been the Social Media / PR Manager for quite some time, but with her booming interior design business & growing baby girl, she had to pass the torch. Deedee planned on replacing her with an intern, but I convinced her that I was the girl for the job... So now I need to prove to her that I was right!

I'll be updating their Facebook account, website, Pinterest page, Instagram, Twitter, and blog, as well as writing radio ads & speaking on Z 107.5 the first Thursday of every month.

I'm looking forward to all the amazing opportunities that this career will bring.

Twenty Thirteen

Happy New Year!!

I have so much to share and catch up on via blog world.

{First}
Remember how I was going to be Miss Paparazzi of Wilmington? Well, time to be jealous...

That's me with Jeffrey Dean Morgan! Recognize him? He was on Grey's Anatomy and P.S. I Love You. What a beautiful, beautiful man.

{Second}
Brad spoiled me on Christmas. It came and went way too quickly, but I did manage to load up on some goodies. Just a few of my favorites...

{Third}
My gorgeous, talented friend Amanda took the long trek from LA to South Carolina to be home for the holidays, so Brad & I decided to go down to the beach for New Year's Eve. It was so nice seeing her!

{Fourth}
Okay, I know it's only January 2nd, but so far, 2013 is not disappointing! Brad & I drove back home just in time for my football game. The Gamecocks played Michigan at the Outback Bowl, and....
 WE WON!

It was definitely a jammies kinda day. Brad snoozed with the babies on the couch while I slaved away in the kitchen. What would New Year's Day be without the traditional southern good luck dinner?

This meal should be bring us lots of health, wealth, luck & prosperity in 2013!

Tomorrow, I'll share with y'all my newest job!
